christmas eve 2011 dinner

Papa Cohen was gone this year for Christmas
and without the official Holiday Cook,
we ended up having Christmas Eve dinner at our house.
It's a tradition at the Cohen's.
We get all dressed up and enjoy a Christmas feast.

my boys in their matching outfits, so cute!

The kids couldn't wait for Santa to come the next day....
to see all their presents. They were so excited!
They were so excited we let them open one gift from Grandma & Grandpa Savage.

I think mine was the best...
The card read--- drink, eat, and have money--

There was an apple cider bottle with about $75 taped all around it, a box of See's Candies chocolates, and; perfume, lotion, and other girly items. Thanks Jan, you are alwasy so creative with your gifts.

Christmas 2011

In honor of a great man

My dear Papa Roy Cohen died on December 5, 2011 at the age of 79.

I have so many memories with my Papa Roy. He was always so upbeat and happy. He was a jokester, alwasy looking to get a reaction out of people. He took care of himself and had a champions mentality running 10+ miles a day till about a year before he passed away.

He was a fighter, a visionary- foreseeing things that would take place in the future. highly educated and very inteligent. He studied with the best of them- graduating from Princeton University, where he served as President of the LatinAmerican Club, Chairman of the United World Federalists, he was a great leader. He was an excellent business man and created a fortune- thinking BIG was his game plan.

He raised an amazing man- my father and for that, for teaching him values and to fear God I will always be grateful. so many stories, so many memories, so many things I still wish I could talk to you about...
It's hard to put into words what this man represented for me and our family. We loved him so much! I guess in a totally unrealistic way he was invincible to me. He was a hero to me, someone I thought would always be around.

I'm grateful for my Jewish heritage, that (thanks to him) runs through my veins. I'm proud to say that my Grandpa died being a Christian, he recognized that Jesus Christ is Our Savior and Messiah. and now he is gone, he has passed the veil and is in the company of His Creator and so many other loving family members. That must have been a glorious reunion to be back with la Abuela Ruth and el Abuelo Alberto and his dear brother Clem Cohen.

Here's a picture of Clem and Roy as little boys, the unstoppable team!

Wedding Day....

A picture of My Abuela Mercy and Papa Roy, this was at a New Year's party in 1958.

They loved eachother and had 3 beautiful kids- Alberto, Mayra, and Carlos!

Here's a picture of my dad and his sister Mayra.

Here's a Hollywood looking shot of my grandparents.

Off to a gala dinner, they were part of Venezuela's most exclusive society. (from left to right- Roy Cohen, Ab. Mercy, Tia Liliana and Clem Cohen)
